Photo of Police Officer in Squad CarAs a police officer you will meet people from various areas of the city, state, nation and world. You will build new relationships with business owners, community leaders, pastors and residents that live in Greenville; some of them being lifelong relationships. You will have the opportunity to assist people in need with the commission that you will be given.

Photo of Police SWAT TeamBy working together with other agencies such as the Fire Department, Department of Social Services, Sanitation, and other community based organizations, you will make a major impact on people’s life and their community. You will have the authority to protect those that cannot protect themselves. The younger generation will look up to you as a role model and you may encourage them to become a law enforcement officer one day. Most of all you will go home feeling good about your work at the end of the day.

Pay (based on 43 hour week)

 - Level 1: Entry level, no prior experience $29,492, based on a 43 hour work week. Base salary can be increased by the following factors:

  • Associate Degree = 5% Increase
  • Bachelor's Degree = 10% Increase
  • 1-5 Years Experience* = 5% Increase
  • 5+ Years Experience* = 10% Increase

(Increases cannot exceed 15%.)

*Experience means certified law enforcement or military experience.

Incentives

  • take home car program after one year
  • 12 hour shifts with two 3-day weekends per month
  • all equipment provided: uniform, gun, vest, taser, shoes, and others
  • 5 % increase for bi-lingual

Pay(based on an average 53 hour work week)

Firefighter I: Entry level, no prior experience or training $26,372.94. w/ Associates degree + 5% w/ Bachelors degree +10%

Firefighter II: with NFPA FFII Certification $27,487.00 w/ Associates degree + 5% w/ Bachelors degree +10%

  • All basic training provided on site (no out of town travel)
