Located in the West End, this one-day event occurs the Sunday prior to St. Patrick's Day - on March 9 in 2008. 7 p.m. at the
City of Greenville’s Jam’n by the Reedy, held on the banks of the Reedy River in front of the Bowater parking garage. Bluegrass musicians (pickers) are invited to bring their instruments and showcase their talent each week.

The free event will feature Tai Chi and Qigong demonstrations by local instructors and students.
Both Tai Chi and Qigong are becoming increasingly popular in the U.S. Often referred to as moving meditation, Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for physical and mental well-being. In fact, scientific studies show Tai Chi increases flexibility, muscular strength, and fitness. Qigong helps people increase their self-awareness, build internal energy, and develop a healthy body physically and spiritually.

This FREE outdoor family entertainment series is held every Wednesday, 7 - 9pm, June through August, at the Peace Center Amphitheater. This relaxed outdoor setting along the Reedy River features a variety of music performed by regional and local entertainers. Bring a picnic, a blanket or lawn chair; relax and enjoy a wonderful evening at a beautiful and popular outdoor venue.

Each year the Upstate Visual Arts (UVA) and the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department join forces to create a unique venue for bringing art to the public: Art in the Park. This year's festival will be held September 20 and 21, 2008, and draws hundreds of renowned regional artist, as well as, thousands of onlookers to Greenville for a weekend of exhibits and demonstrations.

The Blue Star Mothers - Upstate Chapter and the City of Greenville sponsor Greenville's favorite tradition, the Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade. For more than 20 years, the parade has signaled the start of the Christmas season in Greenville. Each year the parade attracts thousands of visitors downtown to view the holiday floats and activities. The parade is traditionally held the first Saturday in December - on Dec. 6 in 2008. |
