Storm Water Utility

The Storm Water Utility is responsible for developing watershed master plans, coordinating improvements to the City's watershed basins, and for complying with state/federal mandates related to stormwater management and water quality design. We are also responsible for reviewing private development projects, both residential and commercial, for compliance with federal, state and local stormwater regulations.

How do you calculate fees for multi-family developed and non-residential property?

Fees for these parcels are based on the same amount per square foot of hard surface as the typical single-family home.

The typical single-family parcel in Greenville has 2,389 sq. feet of impervious area. This is the equivalent residential unit (ERU). The base fee per ERU is $21 per year. This fee is used to compute the fee for all impervious area on these properties.

The formula used is:
Total impervious area (sq. feet) divided by 2,389 sq. feet = total ERUs (rounded up) X $21 = annual fee

For example:
A property with 11,500 square feet of impervious area would be 11,500 divided by 2,389 = 4.8, rounded up to 5 ERUs X $21 = $105/year
